Chuck Pratt to AMC Cast: "Jamie Luner is No &#$ Kisser!"
Lord have mercy, will some PR rep tell these executives to close their yaps? They make it too easy for me! Last year you had Barbara Bloom telling Guiding Light fans who balked at her new production mandates to "lighten up", Chris Goutman preaching about how soaps should be cut to three-days-a-week, Ken Corday calling Deidre Freakin' Hall, a "spoke on a wheel" and now All My Children head writer Chuck Pratt is telling TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan that the cast of his soap had better "watch out" for Jamie Luner. Say what, say huh?
Luner was brought to AMC by the soap’s head writer Chuck Pratt, who wrote and produced several seasons of Melrose. “Back then, Jamie’s nickname on the set was ‘Turbo’ because she’s such a ball of energy and you can throw anything at her,” says Pratt. “I warned her that joining AMC would be daunting and crazy. What with 30 actors and all the behind-the-scenes stuff, it’s like high school. But they’re the ones who have to watch out. Jamie’s not an ass kisser. She’s very straightforward. She’s going to shake up the cast in a very good way.
Heck Chuckie, you do realize the daytime landscape and its fans are pretty war-ravaged after years of fans having to endure the losses of our beloved vets, many on the show you're scripting, i.e Julia Barr, Cady McClain, Marcy Walker (Yeah she's found Jesus, but she was booted off AMC, don't re-write history Julie), etc. So...yeah, maybe you might not want to set poor Jamie Luner up for failure by popping off at the mouth? I don't know about y'all, but I smell another "Real Greenlee".

Take it easy on Jamie. She's just an actress who booked a gig and good for her. If you want Marcy, blame TPTB. I mean, it wasn't Noelle Beck's fault ATWT doesn't have Martha Byrne anymore.

*UpChuck strikes again I see.... I think I get what he's trying to say. IMO, UpChuckster's trying to say that JL's the type of person that doesn't bow down to anyone hence her getting the job I guess. He's also letting folks out in the soap world know to stop brownosing. Too bad he couldn't say it in a nicer way though...

well maybe he is callin it like it is!! sure he is runnin off at the mouth! but maybe he needs to with the garbage that must go on with the cast at AMC. The politics and crap, Jamie may need a hand just to have a fair shot at it over there! and again like the other poster said, Jamie has NOTHING to do with Marcy Walker or Chuck Pratts problems at AMC much less all the backstabbing crap that the insecure actors/actresses put each other through with the gossip and Diva behaviors that put the show in trouble- maybe, just maybe the writers are writing according to the demands that the actos/actresses put on the producers and executives. Like a poster said on my Facebook page, THE lunatics ARE (OFTEN) RUNNING THE ASYLUM.
Seems like he just wants the chickie poo to get a fair shake! I am ALL FOR FAIRNESS!

That may all be the case, but it is not gonna help Jamie be accepted by the fans by Pratt putting a cast that has been stripped of veterans on notice about her arrival! It's insanity! That is NOT how you inspire onset moral.

I have mixed feelings about all of this. I'm willing to give her a chance but I hope she's not going to become the center of all the storylines. They tried to do that with Greenlee, but I don't think it was a good move.

For the record though, I've actually never seen Luner in action. Well, unless you count "Just the Ten of Us." Awesome!

I smell Real Greenlee, too! First, JHC insults the audience then Pratt insults the cast! Are we sure he's trying to "save" this show? He's acting like this new Liza is the second coming...Funny he said the same thing about Taylor, Reese and Dr. Sinclair and you see how those characters turned out. I don't trust his judgment about anything, especially not the AMC I grew up watching. He needs to go back to prime-time. He obviously feels he's outgrown AMC and daytime with the amount of respect he shows for the cast.

But the real question is: Can she bring the fire and passion she had on "Just the Ten of Us" over to AMC?? I was never that attached to MW as Liza, so I'm open minded to Jamie in the role. Actually, I don't know if it's "open minded" as much as "I don't care" lol

What an idiot!! Basically, he is calling the cast of the show immature teens who act like characters in the movie Mean Girls. I am sure people like MEK, DC, SL, DL,DM, TK, JL etc will really appreciate the ringing endorsement.
I don't knwow who the actress is--but it would even be tough for Bette Davis to make lemonade out of the lemons that Pratt writes

I think some of you guys are making too big a deal about her age. So many soap characters play older/younger than their actual age. We're all quick to judge, but we haven't even seen her on the show yet. While the writing on AMC does suck, at least give her a chance on the show before knocking her down.

What Pratt said is bad, but Jamie Luner saying that she has no plans on researching the character by watching old clips, is worse. This, and the fact that Pratt will over expose the character by giving her as much or more screentime than Alicia Minshew is the reason why this character will fail. This isn't Liza, this is a character that Pratt has conjured up, he is just naming her Liza because he has no respect for the fans. Since he arrived, he's shown that he has no respect for this shows history or the people who watch the show. Why do TIIC believe that a washed up prime time writer should be the person to keep this show from being canceled.

That is some terrible PR. Recasts are always tricky, there is an age gap and likely vastly different approach to the character in acting and writing to overcome. Does Pratt really think there it will help matters to give the cast and fans the impression that Luner is a pushy show eater before she even starts devouring AMC?
It seems like he's trying to ruin any chance the character has of succeeding.

I'm not looking forward to Jamie Luner's version of Liza, and I wish Mr. Pratt would go back to Melrose Place since it's obvious he wants to be a primetime writer. I don't want AMC to be MP. I don't want to see female characters who should be in their mid 40s depicted by younger bombshells. I take that as an insult, since I'm around Liza's age myself! And it doesn't matter to me how good the actress is, IMO, she should be researching her predecessor's work. I don't need AMC shaken up any more than it already is! In addition, Mr. Pratt needs a good PR agent who will screen his interviews and press releases. His remarks were rude and uncalled for. I'm not impressed, and I'm not looking forward to his new, improved Liza. I am, however, interested in seeing how she looks in scenes with Adam. She was married to him a few times, I believe.

And the red hair! even though i love Robin Christopher i really think she would have been a great Skye!! they should have just kept Liza offscreen or brought back the person who originated the role

It's really not Jamie Luner's fault. She is a good actress, and she has grown on me. I hope the show keeps her. Here is a radical idea...hear me out.
- Make the last 5 years a dream or Janet's novel written from Oak Haven. In the real PV, some things are like they are now, others are really different.
-Change Jamie Luner from Liza to SKYE CHANDLER
-Once ATWT tanks...try to get MAURA WEST to be Liza if they can't get Marcy Walker Smith back.
I am so full of hope about the show now!!!
