In theory the possible death of Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) on The Young and the Restless should provide each and every actor, whose character has a connection to Brad the opportunity to do some of their best work as only soap funerals can. Over the past few days we've seen more of Tammin Sursok's Colleen than we have seen in months and some, including DC's own Jamey, think she's doing a good job. So I have to ask...
Is Tammin Sursok improving?

Surprisingly she is improving. I wasn't a big fan of Sursok, to be honest I wanted her gone ASAP ... but now...
Maybe she would be even good to make some trouble between J.T. and Victoria and make the bore marriage a little bit more interesting.
As you could see in the past few episodes, Thad and Tammin seem to have chemistry.

I had to endure Tammin Sursok back in my home country on Home & Away for a number of years and she was like running nails over a chalk board. Horrendous. I was horrified when Adrianne Leon (the true Colleen IMO) was let go and they replaced her with TS, it was one of those true WTF moments since I've moved to the US and began watching more American soaps.
Down to the question, well has she improved yeah a little. But she doesn't have chemistry with ANYONE. I don't even buy her friendship with Lily (although she has a better chance with CK than she did with DS Lily - she was a lot more Dru.).
For me TS best scenes thus far were some of those associated with her break up with Adrian. A lot of what I have seen during Brad's disappearance just haven't seemed to flow and seem forced.
She would have to improve a hell of a lot more for me to accept her in the role let's put it this way. For now I have just had to realize yet again I am forced to endure her.

It's just more of the same as far as I'm concerned.
I know that emotions are running high right now what with Brad's tragic and untimely death but even though TS didn't suck as bad as she usually does, she's still not good and she doesn't capture the essence of Colleen. There's that constant smirk which is incredibly annoying, and the looking away from the person she's speaking to. It's too distracting and it removes me from the scene. She's like a vacuum - she sucks the life right out of a scene.
I've read a lot of comments on other message boards about how great it is that Colleen stood up to Victor. Yeah, but he didn't care; he acted like she was annoying gnat that should be flicked away. Colleen didn't get the upper hand at all in that exchange. And again, these scenes could have been so much better - SHOULD have been so much better - if a more capable actress were in the role.
It's been over a year and a half and even though the past few days' worth of material for TS has been better than it's ever been, I'm still completely not sold on this actress and would prefer it if she would leave the show. She can take that gal who portrays Eden and the ones who portray Tyra and Ana with her.

So when Colleen was off-screen for what turned out to be several months, was she maybe taking acting classes? Or maybe Rauch told her to pull her head outta her a$$!

No, she isn't improving, in fact, I think it's more of the same and it still amazes me that a perfectly good actress was fired to bring on this inept girl. The material that she's been given has been really good and it would have been so much better had a more capable actress been in the role. Personally, I think people are only more accepting of her because we've had to endure her for almost two years. I haven't felt sorry for the character of Colleen during this storyline and I should have but with her dismal performances, I have felt absolutely nothing for the character. She can't even convey the proper facial emotions instead she always has a giant grin plastered on her face and her forehead never wrinkles up. Honestly, TPTB are insulting this long time viewer by keeping Aussie Colleen in the role since she can't seem to hide the accent of hers that slips from time to time.

See I guess I was in the minority, but I never bought Adrienne as Colleen. She seemed just like her GH character Brooke Lynn. I loved Brooke, but she never made me believe she was a cosmetics heiress for one second. Tammin is much closer to the orginal, and best Colleen (IMO) Lyndsay Fonseca.

She'll never improve enough to own this role. I view her version of Colleen as just a grown up version of her Summer Bay character Dani. Still selfish, uptight and annoying... although she has lost the high school uniform.
Although I think the recasting of the mid adult set in GC the last couple of years has sucked. I'll never buy CK as Dru's daughter no way no how and I had never wanted to endure TS on any show again yet here we are. But with Brad's exit I'm not sure I can really see her sticking around long especially with this recast being such a dud. They've brought Amber and Chloe in so they have more female members for the young adult set now, I think it's time Colleen take some time away from the memories of GC and came back in a few years with a better portrayer

Note to hair model:
Shrieking and squinting your face WITHOUT any tears, does NOT equal anguish and sadness!
Shouting and screaming your dialogue WITHOUT inflection, does NOT equal pain and fear!
It only shows that you don’t have the chop to act! Still!

She's been more watchable the last few days but IMO that's because she's been given better material than usual and not that the acting has actually improved.
It's fitting for Colleen to get story out of Brad's death but I can't help but feel that it's wasted on TS.
Admittedly I was a big fan of Leon in the role and long to hear the words "The role of Colleen Carlton is now being played by Adrienne Leon"
But I've tried to give TS a chance and she's not the worst part of the show but I do think the character deserves a better actress.

Tammin doesn't annoy me as much as Vail Bloom does but I wouldn't be heartbroken if the role of Colleen was replaced with another actress.

Adrienne Leon was much better in the role. As far as I am concern, Colleen has no use in G City and should be written off. This actress suks.

I love Tammin as Colleen better than any other actress. She was great from the start. I don't know why people don't like her, but you can't deny she really stepped up her game for Brad's funeral. Her acting set the tone for the grief and she has been a great anchor for this s/l.
Also, she is the only cast member besides Billy who has effectively stood up to Chloe. She is well matched in those scenes.
I really hope you guys at DC stop being so unfairly hard on the beautiful actresses. Just because they are pretty doesn't mean they can't act. And besides, it's a soap, people don't want girls who look like boys on TV.

I like Tammin too! Adrienne's version did NOT seem like an Abbott. She came off like a truck stop waitress.

While I agree that she has been somewhat more tolerable the last few days although I think it's due to the writing (kudos to the writers not the actress!). I still cannot identify with the character and that is due to fact that the actress has yet to impress me and they have given in to her weaknesses. I just cannot get past her accent, looking off to the side, and she has NO chemistry with anyone. IMO, her acting is as juvenile as NuAbby's. I liked NuAbby until this week all she has done is smile through every scene in which she should have been upset; I suppose Tammin's stupid grin has rubbed off on her. They both could take a few pointers from Kevin Schmidt; that is real natural talent.
She will never be Colleen to me.

In my opinion, Tammin has yet to meet expectations, even though they seem to be lowered for her. Watching Tammin emoting in a scene is the visual equivalent of hitting yourself in the head with a hammer. It feels good when she stops.

Oh the things I would do to have Adrienne Leon come back. I watched the TS version of Colleen attempt to cry over Brad's death. There was lots of screaming and facial expressions but no crying. I think it's just a lot of the same from her. I still can't get over that accent of hers. Those "O's" are really giving the girl hell.

TS has impressed me. Tammin Sursok has been amazing this week and I for one have enjoyed her scenes grieving for Brad. Adrianne Leon was just a miscast and horrible.

Is this even a question! of course she has improved i have always thought Tammin was a fantastic actress and i watched her in other shows prior to coming to Y&R i think she nailed those scenes. My heart went out to Colleen it made me feel so sad and i could feel her pain, grief, emotion, anger EVERYTHING!!. I really hope there is more to come for Colleen she is phenomonal and amazing!!
KUDOS to tammin!!

Too funny and cruel. Adrienne was a bit robust for the role, but her love scenes with Adrian and JT were still pretty hot. I agree though, she didn't have that heiress quality that Tammin seems to possess in spades.

I don't see what the big deal is. I think Tammin is very talented and beautiful. I've always loved her as Colleen. I just wish they would portray Colleen as a bitch. I think Tammin would be great in that capacity. Also, I saw a scene once that included Tammin and Bryton (Devon). I think the two of them would have great chemistry. Not that they would ever pair a white woman with a black man...but it's just a thought.
By the way, Farah Fath (Gigi, OLTL)has gotta be the WORST actress in daytime.

While I'll say that Tammin' Sursok's performances last week showed some slight improvement, I cannot agree that overall she has improved in this role nor grown into it. Tammin's performances last week still left me unfulfilled and feeling absolutely nothing for Colleen. TS was given some meaty material last week and by God, we should have saw some life in her and we deserved that as viewers seeing while watching a 20+ year beloved character written out of the show, especially since it was done in such a gruesome way.
IMO, Tammin's acting is so below the caliber of the other actors and actresses on Y&R. In addition, the overall lack of chemistry with the entire cast, the smiling in scenes for which it is totally uncalled for, the inexplicable heavy accent for an American characer, her inability to maintain eye contact (basic manners not even acting!!) with her co-stars and the constant bopping up and down side to side are a complete and utter distraction. The bottom line is I will never accept Tammin as Colleen Carlton and feel she is totally miscast in this role.
In closing, I have to say I find the whole discussion here completely laughable, especially after the length of time that has passed. What other job does a person get nearly 2 years to "improve" and step up his/her game?

I have loved Tammin since her H&A days, and now I am more conviced than ever that Tammin Sursok IS Colleen Carlton. And obviously I'm not alone!
Of course, I know there are a few who still don't like her - mostly fans of Her Whispering Highness, Adrianne Leon (who, if you ask me, could never have pulled off the scenes that Tammin knocked out of the park last week).
