Has Anybody Seen Greenlee's Legs?

In her exit interview with Soap Opera Digest (on newstands now), Rebecca Budig shares that she felt something was missing during her second stint as All My Children's Greenlee Smythe.

I felt like the character was sort of lost; at least I couldn't really find her legs again."

I hate it when that happens. When I wake up and someone has moved one of my legs in the middle of the night it makes me want to act a PLUM fool! Budig goes on to tell the magazine that whenever she shared scenes with La Lucci—like yesterday's hilarious catfight where sixtysomething Erica Kane WHUPPED Greenlee's ass—she managed to find those pesky legs. Godspeed Becky, may you and your gams find much success back out in SoCal!

It wasn't Budig that lost its legs, its the darn show. It suffers from a  severe case of dissociative identity disorder and trashtastic writing. Jesse and Angie have been botched. Greenlee was painful to watch. Kendall was turned in a shrew. Bianca was a wet blanket martyr. David, Adam, Tad and Erica are shells of themselves. Taylor bombed. Billy Miller's character was written into a corner. Ryan, Annie and Aiden need to go. Fusion is a white elephant tied like a noose around the shows neck as it sinks to the bottom of the ocean. Zach has become Sonny. Krystal has lost her spark. A hooker is the face of fusion. Jackson has been marginalized. Opal is a comedic prop. There are no umbrella storylines and individual storlyines swerve about like drunk Taylor on B&B. This show is a freakin mess.

I'd agree with you Luke if the show actually had an identity. It doesn't even have a personality. It's absolutely bland.

It's worse than bland...it's been disemboweled. It was a great metaphor that Greenlee and Erica were going to get control of Fusion because of the flip of a coin. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that is how behind the scene decisions and storyline decisions are being made.

Heads the baby is JR's. Tails its Jakes.

Heads Greenlee goes off the cliff on a motorcycle in an homage to Ryan. Tails she falls off the cliff that Leo did.

Heads Annie's a psycho. Tails she's a cold blooded murderer.

Heads Reese is a Lesbian. Tails Reese is a bisexual in love with Zach.

Heads Kendall gets Josh's heart. Tails she recovers on her own.

Heads Erica relaunches Enchantment. Tails she takes over Fusion.

Heads Krystal gets custody of the kid. Tails Tad gets custody.

Amanda and JR can be the next great couple if written write and David being the foiled can be great. Get rid of Fusion and have Erica turn it back into Enchantment. Adam becoming a big business tycoon and take over Cambias Enterprises from Zach, since he is busy and start a business rival with JR, Adam and Zach. Bring the con man back into Ryan Lavery, instead of the self-righteous a@#, and have a triangle between Kendall, Zach and Reese. Move pass the Angie and Jesse nonsense and bring them closer together. And bring back Skye Chandler Quartermaine Alazacar back to spice up the show.

I'm going to miss her. The whole show is in shambles! I only watch for Reese/Tamara these days. Bianca is pissing me off - YOU WOULD THINK she could read Kendall better then Reese who has only known her for a handful of days.

This quote deserves a Chelsea Handler's
A DOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just FYI this is what I am going to post when a dumb quote is posted here.

Of course the character was messed up when you came back. That what happens when you have a person who doesn't care about the part of the network he runs, lackluster HW, and dismissing a recast whose was working to get the "REAL THING" back.

LOL Maybe Sabine kept Greenlee's legs when she left.

DETATCHABLE..."legs" lyrics

I woke up this morning with a bad hangover And my p**** ("legs)
was missing again. This happens all the time. It's detachable.

This comes in handy a lot of the time. I can leave it home, when I think it's gonna get me in trouble, or I can rent it out, when I don't need it. But now and then I go to a party, get drunk, and the next morning I can't for the life of me remember what I did with it.

I used to love Greenlee! She was fun and snarky and I especially loved her with Leo. The "real" Greenlee left a long time ago has never returned.

AMC is a complete mess! I cannot even stand to watch it anymore. Having Tamara join and Eden come back for this tragic storyline was a waste. Even having two of my favorite soap actresses can't get me to continue to watch. I have a distinct feeling that their storyline was changed mid-way. Maybe I'm wrong, but it just seemed to take a 180 turn.

Also, the continuity on this show is horrific. Before I stopped watching, I noticed several instances where they blatantly changed a crucial detail that happened at the beginning of the story.

With all the negative publicity Days and GL has been getting, AMC has been lucky to stay under the radar. If they keep going the way they are they won't be able to stay unnoticed forever.

Greenlee lost her legs and her balls when they brought the character back just so she could hump Ryan's leg!

While the writing for Greenlee has been horrible, I have to say that Rebecca didn't help the situation. It was like she was bored, paraphrasing what she said, she only came alive during scenes with SL.

Of course the situation was made worse because the writers never knew what they wanted to do with Greenlee, and the last two writers could care less about the character and what made her tick. But even given that, Rebecca could have worked just a little harder.

I would like to point out it's probably Reese's fault. She already took Bianca's brain and storyline, Kendall's husband and sister and Zach's sperm and common sense, Greenlee's legs were a walk in the park for her.

I rorally agree with Luke, they botched RB's return royally this time, it's no wonder she wants to leave!

But did RB ever really have legs in the acting department? Her range pretty much consists of flipping her hair and pursing her lips. I can do that too, and ABC is more than welcome to pay me a hefty salary for the privilege of using my talents.

I think the whole 'Real Greenlee' debacle was at least one of the major factors in the downfall of the show. Say what you will about Sabine Singh; at least she looked like she wanted to be there. RB just seemed as though she couldn't be bothered. She'd previously said she didn't want to come back and it showed. Characters and story lines were mutated and sacrificed just to accommodate her return and the re-launching of a pairing that pretty much nobody liked anyway. And all so she could leave again in year or so because she's bored? Well, that puts her and however many viewers the show has left in the same boat.

Well, the mess isn't all her fault. It's the network that made the offer to get her back. They seem to think just getting actors back from the past will do the trick and get ratings up. They can't do it all by themselves. They have to have story to support them. She is just an actor for hire and gets the script and has to do whatever crap they give her. She is not responsible for the pr dept or storyline. Has any return ever lived up the the original run that fans have a fondness for? Look what happened to Edmund and Maria, Julia, Dixie. ABC is looking more and more desperate, get so-and-so back for sweeps. They are just wasting the good will the fans have for past characters/actors/storylines. Bad writing can turn the audience against any character no matter how popular in their previous run.

I will say it, I don't care. They should have kept Sabine. She was amazing as Greenlee. She was multidimensional, capable of playing both schemer and heroine. She and Aidan had chemistry and she had root factor. I haven't wanted to root for Greenlee since Rebecca came back, and it isn't just the writing. Rebecca's Greenlee is not a likeable character. She was great as the bitch who tormented "Lesbianca", but she has never worked as a heroine. If they wanted Greenlee to be a complicated, sometimes bitchy heroine who the audience could care about, the "Real Greenlee" for that job was Sabine.

There could only ever be one Greenlee, and that is Rebecca Budig. Even with the crap she had to work with this past year, Rebecca still managed to win viewers over. She is a very talented class act. And she did the best she could with the terribly boring storylines she was given. As for Sabine Singh, I don't know what character she was playing on AMC, but it certainly WAS NOT "Greenlee Smythe". Not. Even. Close.

You said it, Rosilynn! I hated Sabine's potryal of Greenlee! There's only one Greenlee Smythe and her name is Rebecca Budig!
