I am not surprised by this news because both actors have been wasted on this show since their return. It's a travesty because I remember Patch/Kayla from back in the day but they've been snubbed and underused on this show for far too long. I wish them luck.

DAYS is a hot mess right now... even more than ATWT.

Now I know Kristian & Peter are not safe. If it was any other regime w/brains I would say they are trying to take out the old and focus the show on the next generation, but given the mess going on at that show I would not buy that excuse.

All the things I have to say to Corday isn't fit to be said in a NC-17 movie let alone on this blog!

And I am sure their exit is going to be just as bad if not worse than Drake and Dee's.

Ken Corday, Dena Higley and Gary Tomalin should be publicly flogged for what they've done to this show.

I am not suprised by this. Now is Joseph Melscola going to be next to go?? GL is going to number 6 while DOOL is at 7.

I knew they would get fired. Once they fired Marelna and John, I figured that Patch, Kayla, and Tony would be next. I'm guessing that Kate, Roman and Stefeno are next on the axing block.

This doesn't surprise me, but is it wrong that I would REALLY love for SN to return to GH as Stephan Cassadine? His Stephan Cassadine is one of the reasons I got hooked on GH.

"ROMAN" (aka Chris Kositchek) is safe. He is Ken Corday's BFF. Steve & Mary Beth were never properly utilized when they returned so they're better off not being on the show, esp after today's episode.
There was so much unexplored potential with Patch & Kayla, but as usual DAYS has messed it up.
Peter & Kristian are the only reasons I tune in on occasion.
If the long time viewers are tuning out, I doubt that the younger generation will tune in to see the newbies. There's nothing there to hold our interest.

I think Bo and Hope are next to go and that would be the what will really sink them. To DC and staff, what is better/worse, changing your entire production model like GL has or firing fan favourites like DOOL has done, to save money ? I really would be interested in hearing your thoughts about it.

I was shocked you know when you see a trainwreck but when I let this all sink in it doesn't suprise me. Meaning, Dena really hasn't been writing for them anyways. IMO, if she doesn't like to write for them that shows she's unprofessional and needs to be taken to task for that. Ken Corday really should be also. Those two should be called the soap killers. I'd love for SN to be back on GH, God Stefan and Laura were FIRE! Uh Jamey, don't you go speaking out about Fi-Core..... Didn't Auntie Maria go that route also?

And I agree that Stefan should come back to GH - he could be responsible for not-Emily's "death" and reappearance.

I have no problem with people doing that to save their family business. Maria Arena Bell was long out of the soap game and only went Fi-Core to keep Y&R afloat, that in my opinion was perfectly acceptable. Higley didnt go through the proper channels. Higley cost striking writers their jobs. Higley was investigated by the WGA, then had to go crawling to them to tattle on three actors who were allegedly re-writing her scripts with Ed Scott. Scott was fired, two of the actors in question have been fired (pick one any one...) with a third being written like a plum fool (Is she next?), yet Higley is still stacking checks. Shame on it all.

Equarter, I drove up and parked my car when I went there! It is what it is, its clear that Dena doesn't like writing for them and that's unprofessional imo. We all know that writers have favorite character on shows in general, not just soaps, and they also dislike some of the characters NOT the actors but the people they are portraying. It shows great professionalism and talent to put all that aside and pen for a character and even actors you can't stand. Dena clearly doesn't have it and neither does KenKen if he allows her to do so. He's her BOSS, he should've told her to get her act together or get going. Jamey I hear u on that.

I don't know who treats their vets worse, Days or GH.

Luke, I would be all for a Stephan Cassadine return! He was awesome. We need a little more Cassadine drama in the mob-centric world! And some Helena too!

Yah Abe and Lexie are safe for now!!! It appears that since they are not on the highly paid list that they are safe. That's all I care about.

I think Bo and Hope are relatively safe...I figured that TPTB wanted to keep one old school supercouple on the show, they're cops which is useful for storyline purposes, and TPTB probably still consider them "young enough" to be interesting (we know a lot of decisions are guided by ageism in the industry.)

I'm so MAD that so many people are getting FIRED at the hands of Ken Cordy!! THey are susppose to get pay cuts not getting fired! it just isn't fair that they get fired at all. I won't be surprised if BO and Hope are next! I heard that the SHow was shut down for a week because the woman that played Nichole walked off the set in a HUFF when she found out that the twins (playing her daughter and the twins playing Sami's baby girl Both baby girls ) are going to be AGED up to a TODDER in a few weeks! Days of Our Lives has decided to QUIT working with babies because "they are too hard to work with" . By the way, the twins that play Sami's baby girl right now are boy twins But we can't tell if they are boys or girls because of the hat and blankets. and that small who can really tell a boy from a girl? Anyway, A days writter has also been fired too.

Wow! Sad news and so sorry to Days fans. I thought John and Marlena being written off was bad but this only makes it worse. Is days going to die a long and painful death?

To echo the comments of many, this news is hardly shocking at all given everything that is going on in the genre and the strange Land of Nod that is Ken Corday's Salem.

Nevertheless, this is one of those times when you need Christian Bale to cuss somebody out.

A shame! I'm not surprised because Steve and Kayla haven't done much except be window dressing. He was unemployed for the longest time before he became a PI. And Kayla became Chief of Staff because there's no other doctors. Does that mean Daniel will be it now? BARF!

I'm so over with this show! It's Corday, Higley, and Tomlin disrespecting the show and the fans. I'm tuning out. I don't want the show cancelled, but if viewers tune out, it's a message (hopefully) to the horrible people running the show that change needs to be made. I thought I read somewhere that Sony was responsible for getting Ed Scott the EP position because Days was doing so bad (if we only knew what was in store). If the show loses enough viewers, can't Sony do something again? I'm just saying, if you have Soapnet, watch or DVR the reruns on Soapnet because I think Jacob Young (JR, AMC) said that those recordings don't count towards the ratings. That way, you can still catch showings of Days if you still want to and then have viewership drop to let TPTB know that we want our vets! It's an idea. I currently have no desire to watch the show. It's a shame!

Predictions on who's next: Anna, Stefano (why use him because EJ is doing all the business, he'll be phased out), Lexie (again, she will just live off-screen), Lucas. Basically whoever's contract is about to expire and considered too expensive. BTW, when does James Scott's contract expire? It's been 3 years right? Isn't that the standard contract length? If he goes, that will be a blow to the show since they've concentrated so much on him (and I don't care for him that much). Ugh this show blows!

Are you saying that Evans and Nichols were re-writing the scripts with Scott? I mean I know they fought hard for the fall out scenes and I know that basically was the last time we saw them in any meaningful scenes, but if that is really the reason then they should be given the writers job, because those scenes were great.

Stephen and Mary Beth are great actors and I have no doubt they will be ok with whatever happens. But this is a big blow to the show both on screen and off. They always bring so much to the show when they are allowed to grace our screens and I know they are also a cast favorite and I am sure as "veteran" actors there they are going to be missed.

This show just blows and I know when they fade away, I will be gone also.

The Nicole story and Sami/Rafe stories are the ONLY stories that have kept me watching.

I'm so disappointed. I thought things couldn't get worse than the Willow and Tinda Lau.

I'm sick of Dr. Dan, sick of Stephanie, sick of Melanie.. and I can barely remember the last time I saw 1/2 the rest of the cast.

I quit watching GH back in November - too much Sonny for me - and I used to like him until they put the lovers against each other (Jason v. Sonny) - but yeah, if SN came back as Stephan I would be back in a heartbeat.

I love Y&R (what I left GH for) and would love to see them pick up these gems that Corday has tossed aside.
Y&R respects its veterans (okay there are exceptions - I wish Brad wasn't leaving/gone).

I just don't get it. I think I'm in the heart of the viewing demo - (34y/o female). I started watching with my Grandmother years ago as a kid and have been watching shows ever since. The younger ones have been brought up with the web media/internet etc. and I just have a hard time believing that they start watching a show because a 1/2 dozen hair models join a show.

It's like Jamey says - it's the same 200K that jump from show to show - and this viewer is ready to jump wherever these actors move on to. Maybe this group could get together for a nice primetime gig?

Wow, I just read the bad new here. This is depressing. The monday after John and Marlena's exit had Bo, Hope, Kayla, Steve, Lexie, Abe all at the same table in the pub. With Caroline and Victor in the pub at the same time. Everyone on the DOOL board got nostalgic over it! I'm not surprised, how long can they do intermittent stories? They do one story in the spring then nothing for the longest time.

Stephano's next. No John and Marlena, no reason to keep Stephano. Looks like EJ will be the big bad Dimera when he finds out about Nicole and Sami's deception.
