Daytime Confidential's Top 10 Writers/Producers of 2008
No. 5: Karen Harris - Life in General/Greenville General, General Hospital, General Hospital: Night Shift
There's an old saying, don't quit your day job. General Hospital scribe Karen Harris proved in 2008 you don't have to. If you're good at what you do, you can do it all. The multitasking storyteller brought her dream projects Life in General, a dramedy about the behind-the-scenes shenanigans of a daytime soap opera, and Greenville General, it's soap-within-a-soap, to life for the upstart Strike TV. Harris developed the pilot episodes of the companion serials during the Writers Strike of 2007-2008 as part of an initiative to show the industry that it is possible for web programs to be successfully monetized. She also resumed writing scripts for daytime's most storied soap opera General Hospital once the strike ended and even found the time to draft a script or two for GH's cable cousin General Hospital: Night Shift.
