Days of Our Lives Flashback: The Time Is Near

People of the world - the time is near. For those living in a world without any form of public medium or access to soap opera news, Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall's final days are upon us in coming days on Days of Our Lives. As much as this decision hurt fans from everywhere, the inevitable is about to happen. In recent posts, particularly from myself, I have once again felt the desire to share another John and Marlena tribute video with the world. It's hard to come to grips with this news that this daytime supercouple is packing up and moving away from a town they have called home for so long. But like the saying goes, the world still turns and life must and will go on - with or without John and Marlena. We will watch with bated breath in hope the show will survive and revive it's fight to reign supreme in this flagship daytime drama.

For now, people of the world have John and Marlena for a few more days yet, but for when their number is up, we will all have nothing but memories of the past - they start right here.

This is a wonderful tribute to the couple and unfortunately, probably better then anything that horrible hack, Dena Higley, will come up with to send these two out with the respect, dignity, love and final story ending that they deserve.

Try as I might I just can not wrap my brain around this totally arseanine decision to fire Drake and Deidre and destroy this most wonderful couple. Thanks for the video as it shows why they are so popular and so loved. Just watching this bit has me smiling and crying. Days will not be the same with them gone and TPTB have broken my heart. I watch the show but it is nowhere near like it was watching before all this BS. I have no interest in the show except for the veteran actors who I will support. I just keep shaking my head and try to understand all this but can not do so.

I still cannot comprehend how Drake & Deidre can be let go from Days. They represent the core of this show and its success over the last 30+ years - No Drake & Deidre = No Days!! Sad but a reality. I cannot understand any business decision that says you fire the stars of the show and the reason why people stay LOYAL for decades in order to make the make the show a success? There is no logic. After the episode on 23rd January I cannot say there is any reason to continue watching. I'm only hoping that in time those that make such crazy decisions without any understanding of why people watch Days in the first place realise that they may have set off a domino effect that ultimately could result in the end of Days FOREVER!!

As much as we hate to admit it - these final moments of Days will be defining ones. Moments that will live on in the history of the soap. What a week...

Wow! I've never really watched Days regularly, but even I think John & Marlena are incredible, that video was pure old fashioned soap. Thanks so much for posting!

Add my name to the list of soon to be FORMER DAYS fans plus two generations of Drake fans in my family, who will be making our last day watching DAYS on 1/23/09. We have NO desire to watch this show WITHOUT Drake Hogestyn on it so good bye DAYS! Drake, we're behind you all the way and will be following you to your next role!
