The New York Post is reporting that CBS is hunting for someone to replace Oprah should she decide not to extend her show past 2011. This got me to thinking who might be able to fill Oprah's shoes. Below are a few names that come to mind.
Who would you like to see fill Oprah's shoes?

Gayle, Ali and Star have all had their own failed talk shows. Patricia Heaton also had a failed talk show pilot.

I'm confused. Why would CBS replace Oprah if she is on ABC?
Sheesh, going even a SINGLE day without Regan's spoilers causes my brain cells to shut down...

Oprah is produced by CBS for syndication. It is aired on CBS, ABC, and NBC local stations depending on the market.

Oprah is syndicated, which means her show airs on several different networks in different markets. CBS is basically looking for someone to fill her airtime in their markets. I vote for Ali, Mark and Gayle. Oprah has been grooming them with her Friday Live segments on her show. She wants her girl Gayle to have a show and she knows Gayle will falter on her own, because she has in the past, but with wacky Ali and Mark "My Teeth So White" Consuelos as back ups, Gayle should do okay.

I actually chose Patricia Heaton-in fact, I wish she could replace EH on the View- but I like the idea of Gayle King. I'm not familiar with Ali? I enjoy Gayle King when she's a guest on GMA, or other shows. I recall she did have a previous try at this, maybe she can have another chance.

I don't think there's any replacing Oprah. Another host may rise to this level someday but I don't think they will be able to just hand pick someone and have them claim even a decent portion of O's ratings and fan base.
I'm not a fan of the show but I do respect what Oprah has achieved. CBS would be better off throwing talk shows at half a dozen of the candidates and trying to build them up from there. Maybe a whole network of talk shows with the underlying reality tv theme of who wants to be Oprah.
Maybe Oprah could afford to have an Oprahbot built to take over her duties.

I'd really like to see Lauren Graham (Lorelai, GILMORE GIRLS) get a talk show. I enjoy seeing her on ELLEN, and that wpuld totally be my first offer. If I were a network exec., I'd want either Lauren Graham or Paula Dean for a talk show.

Gotta vote for my girl, Deidre Hall... go to CBS babe, and let NBC screw themselves.
