Two travesties committed by She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. The switched at birth s/l, why not just bring on Philip's son?!:? And Dina should have been apart of the Abbott family turmoil NOT Gloria!

I don't so much mind the switched at birth story. It's a staple for daytime and at least provided us with Daniel Goddard, what I did hate was all the dialogue about Phillip not being Phillip. That was absurd to me. Of course he was Phillip, that's what they named him and Jill raised him as her son and loved him till the day he died. LML could have told the same story without minimizing the first Phillip's connection. As for Dina, that tramp, I loathe her as much as I do Gloria. Cheating on my John with that tennis pro and driving my Ashley insane! Maybe it's the actress, I have never been a fan, they should recast the role with Louise Sorel. She would be a FABULOUS Dina Mergeron, especially given Eileen's chemistry with Louise on Days.

LML can eat crow... this sounds good!  LML rocked on Knots, but Dear Lord she turned Y&R into a hot mess of a show.

You know Darren I still thik LML is a good writer, she just did NOT belong on Y&R. She is a much better writer than half the hacks in daytime, this was just the first time we saw Y&R shift so far from the vision Bill implemented and his proteges managed to keep in tact. I know a lot of people didn't like Kay Alden, but her Y&R was much better and more in tune with Bill's version than LML's. That being said, I would't mind seeing what LML would do with her own daytime soap (should we ever see another one) or with say, Guiding Light. Lord knows that show can't get worse.

Jamey, you're probably right (again!).  I've never seen Guiding Light and I'm intrigued to see if it's really as bad as everyone says. 

There were some good bits to LML's Y&R, but it was so far off what Y&R should be about, it really annoyed me sometimes.  From the godawful music ("For ever, and eveeeer, we'll be making it through, blah blah"... I couldn't get that wretched song out of my head for months) to the Reliquary  and "events" like Out of the Ashes (zzzz).  I'd only just come back to Y&R when she started, and she damn near drove me kicking and screaming to the hills. 

Weirdly, I really miss Maggie and Paul though.  I'll take my medication. 

I LOVED Maggie. The actress was a friend of LML though so I guess that got her kicked to the what, curb.

Yeah, that's what I heard too.  A damn shame!  And now we have ADA Cutie-pie AKA Heather.  Poop  

Ooh, Nina was the original Love to Hate character for me when I was a kid. I didn't want her getting her clutches on Phillip! I always wanted Jill to just slap her! It took me years to accept her as a "good" girl, lol. It'll be nice to have her back

FABULOUS!!! Tricia Cast as "Nina Webster" was one of the most complicated soap bad girls turned heroines in the history of daytime. She went from selling her first child to Rose DeVille (played devilishly by Darlene Conley) to being holed up in the Chancellor attic awaiting the birth of Phillip the 3rd who is now, thanks to LML's botched re-writing of a legendary story, not the Chancellor heir and because Phillip 2nd died, he will never know his true roots. Then Nina became involved with one of the most thrilling, psychological s/l's with David Kimble, who ended up shredded by a trash compactor. Finally, she found love with Ryan McNeil, only to discover that he was in love with Victoria Newman. Nina, in an Emmy-worthy performance, was driven to suicidal thoughts and held a gun to her head while Ryan talked her down and got the gun away. She wrote a book and moved to L.A. with her son.

Since she's been off the show and this history between Jill and Katherine has been totally altered, we have not really heard from or about Nina. I have always wondered what her and Phillip the 3rd's reactions would be to the fact that he is no longer related to them. Jill is not his grandmother and Kay, who felt obligated to take care of Nina because of her late husband's connection to the child as grandfather, no longer plays that role. How do Jill and Kay feel about Phillip the 3rd now? Does Jill feel grandmotherly to him or has Cane's existence ripped that from her heart. Now that Kay is Jill's mother, which more then anything I believe should be undone in some manner, maybe involving Marge. Could Marge be Jill's mother? Could she be Kay's twin, seperated at birth, something that was not really dealt with the last time? When Marge was first introduced she was simply a look-a-like with red hair when dyed blonde bared a striking resemblance to Kay. Maybe the writers could use this as a springboard to undo Jill's being Kay's daughter.

But this is about the most exciting casting news I have heard in a long time. Even if it is for just a short period of time, I look forward to what the writers can do with Nina and Phillip now that they have been stripped of the Chancellor name. How will Nina react to Cane? Will she be angry at Kay for not remembering the baby-switch when it could have mattered for her and is Phillip still getting some part of the Chancellor fortune despite the mix-up. It's not his fault. Should he have to pay for Kay's drunken mistake? The whole idea is chock full of so many thick layers of history that I will be front and center for this "funeral." I have no idea what they have planned. Now that Y&R is back to being the best soap currently written, not that I ever abandoned it, I will be paying extra attention to the next few weeks of build-up to what should amount to a momentous event. Tricia Cast was one of the best actresses of her generation on daytime and I am super excited to see her even if it just for a few days.

I love when Nina was on. I was a young teenager and would rush home to watch her and Cricket.

I will never forget the scene where she tries to commit suicide and Ryan thought she was going to kill him for having an affair...."The gun isn't for youuuuuuu.It's for me!!" That son of a gun deserved to get shot for playing games with that lonely housewife.

It just keeps getting better and better for Y&R! Tricia Cast coming back even just for a short time is simply fantastic. Nina has surely been missed in GC.

This is GREAT news!!! I love Nina and Tricia Cast's portrayal of her. I sincerely hope that this is a permanent return.

I love the news about the other returns, too. They'll probably only on for one or two episodes but I really hope that Nina sticks around because I think that there's some storyline there with Cane that needs to be played out properly.

It's going to be great to see some of the former characters that helped make Y&R great. I just wish they'd see fit to get Victoria Rowell back as Dru, Heather Tom back as Victoria and Adrianne Leon back as Colleen. Then I would know that TPTB actually cared about what their fans think and are truly getting Y&R back on track.

Jamey, you just made my day! I can't wait to see what happens when Nina finds out the truth. I have been waiting on this ever since Jill and Katherine's history was rewritten.

It will be fantastic to have Nina back. Only a scene with Cane would make it a little bit awkward.

But even better: Dina is back!!! Oh, we had to wait so long for this. Can't wait to see her with Jack and Ash.

And Liz? As Elizabeth Foster? Would be awesome. Maybe by Katherine's "funeral" it also could come out, that Jill is not her daughter. And then ... please bring Mac back!!! Even Brock is in town - but not his daughter?

Anyway ... can't wait to see them all.

God bless Daniel Goddard but Cane being Jill's son... I just don't like. Why not just let Philip be Jill's son and bring on her grandson and have Cane be Brock's long lost son? There were other ways to bring on the character of Cane.

And I have no recollection of Dina but I'd rather have someone that has history with the Abbott's than to have Gloria practically destroy them and their good name. I'd rather see Jack and Ashley have to deal w/ mommy dearest than the bug-eyed monster.
