Y&R: Casting News
By Jillian Bowe on September 29, 2008

Michael Damian isn't the only one heading back to Genoa City, so are Devon's (Bryton McClure) long lost relatives. That's right, the mother daughter duo of Tyra (Eva Marcille) and Ana Hamilton (Jamia Simone Nash) are headed back to their adoptive city starting Oct. 15.
Other Y&R Comings & Goings: Fashion editor George Kotsiopoulos and model Ruby Aldridge make cameo appearances as themselves on Oct. 1 along with former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star, Tatyana Ali (Roxanne) and designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard come Oct. 2.

I am praying that Ana's learned it isn't neccessary to break into song every episode. Please, no more of that

I am so tired of Phyllis, I hope Danny is coming to take her away. I'm not in favor of the child breaking into song like Y&R is a soap opera musical, but at least she can sing. I'll take her over Phyllis any day.

Sigh, can this show find some kid stars who can ACT??? I don't know if I can take a second helping of that little singing girl! I just don't!

Forget the acting and singing! What's the point of their s/l?

The point is, "Hmmm, we've always been strong in black households but we're not since Shemar and Victoria left, so let's find some quick replacements, never mind if they can act or have chemistry with a wad of tissue paper!"

That's a shame but so true. I'm all for color on my television but I'm tired of the filler. While soaps don't always write the best material for their white characters they completely get stuck on stupid when it comes to other ethnicities.

That why they need to bring back Victoria Rowell, even if the interview she done on DC was not the best time she had and her co-stars are probably don't want her back, but Eva and the girl is not cutting it. They need to bring so strong black actors like Renee Goldsberry or some unknown black actress who can act.

They think all the black actors are interchangeable. I can just see them in their board meetings, "Hmm, our numbers have dipped since we lost those other black people, let's find some new ones!" They don't get that Dru and Malcolm were popular because they were relatable and well-drawn. Instead of trying to find actors of color who can a. act or b. have at least some charisma, we get Loud-Singing-Child and her non-acting Mama. But to be fair, Y&R has cast some turkeys of ALL colors in recent years! Vail Bloom anyone?

It doesn't only have to be black, either. Why not bring back Jack's Vietnamese son? Nothing against the white talent on this show but DAMN! Also, can we have black characters on this show that don't bore me to tears. God bless Neil but I have to take some cocaine to get through a scene w/ him in it! ________________________

Insert whining voice here ---> Sigh, do they have too.
It was GREAT without them!
Oh well, my FF button probably needs more exercises!

I never thought I'd see the day when Kristoff was my favorite of the black cast. I have a soft spot for Devon, but they won't do anything with him. He had chemistry with Chloe, but they totally went away from that.

Jamey, you say it. I just can't take the singing child anymore. I do agree that they are the boring pair in daytime and the show needs to refocus on the core black family and get someone talented enough to actor with KSJ or bring back Dru. She is the only character and actress that is missing on the canvas and needs to bring the fire drama that Dru is.

aaaahhhhhhh I was kind of GLAD that they BOTH left town!!! Tyra needs to keep her hands off Neil and Anna well I didn't care for her at all.... The only good thing about this is that Devon will get some airtime!

I LOVE Devon, Bryton is a find. If he hit the gym a bit he could be Generation Next Shemar Moore...I say this as I munch on a turkey leg in front of my computer...carry on.

Good Lord! Poor Bryton has been languishing in s/l purgatory.

I also love Bryton and was glad he was getting a storyline - until I actually saw it. Now I'm sorely disappointed to say the least. Tyra and Ana have been complete duds and so is the storyline that they're bogged down in. For the life of me, I can't understand why the show insists on bringing them back rather than cut their losses and go back to the drawing board. But then again I can't understand why the talentless Tammin Sursok endures as Colleen either.

Yes, Bryghton needs a storyline, but I was so over Tyra and the singing kid. Too much!! I hate cloying characters and Ana, bless her heart can't act, and you said it, has the need to sing all the frickin time. I want Neil back with Karen, and Tyra to go back to wherever the hell she came from.
psst....TPTB, this is a turkey of a story, lose it.
