One Life to Live: Everybody's Got Their Something

Pro snowboarder Jamie Anderson stars in the One Life to Live "Everybody's Got Their Something" promo. Unlike Vincent Pastore's General Hospital promo and Mel B.'s All My Children promo which features entertainers, the honchos at ABC decided to go with an athlete for One Life to Live's promo.

ABC should have borrowed from Desperate Housewives and bought the right to Michael Jackson's "So You Wanna Be Starting Somethin" for these ads. Do I have to think of everything?

I like them. The song is catchy and the idea that soaps can be an escape from this crazy world we live in is great. If these celebrities watch soaps to take a break from the stresses in their lives then maybe us "regular folks" should, too. That's the message I get. I also like that they used one actor, one singer and one athlete, so each celeb is famous for a different achievement, and that their ages, race and sex vary. In other words, soaps are accessible to anyone and everyone.

That was the weakest of all the three promos. Where's Viki, David, Dorian? All they showed were the 10 year-olds.

Suddenly OLTL is the Langston/Markko show? So weird to give that last spot to them, though I do love them on the show. But so much Starr?

And, no offense, but who is this Jamie person? I guess it's cool to get a female athlete, but how about someone we've heard of - surely Kristi Yamaguchi could've done the spot, or maybe a Summer Olympics contender, to tie into the summer crowd? Or at least someone with a famous nickname, to match Big Pussy and Scary Spice!

Seeing as the Summer Olympics are airing on NBC, they probably didn't want to step on any network toes, as NBC is the ONLY network ABC is getting along with these days, lol. But I agree that they could've found a more famous female athlete. Were Serena and Venus Williams busy?

I wonder if any of them are really fans of the show or if it's just pay me enough and I'll say what you want me to say.

I thought it was reaching. Throwing words like "Attitude." Is that what draws people in? They should have gone the gossip girl way if they're going to do this kind of promotion for teens. Besides, I thought OLTL was about those core viewers, but now it's a teen drama?

Speaking of Gossip Girl, OLTL should do a print ad with Cole and Starr holding a baby with the words "Every Parents Nightmare" written across it.

This is awful promo, OLTL always gets the short end of the stick, i dont get why ABC treats it this way! AMC even had a better promo then OLTL! Come on!

I just have to comment that I watched an episode of OLTL with Talia trying to save Antonio and Co. from her father and I have to say that a teaspoon of Milk of Magnesia moved me more than Talia telling Antonio that he needed to live for his daughter. And I'm sorry but it was so funny when he's holding the gun while bleeding from the gut and telling everyone to run with trigger happy armed guards two feet from them.
