One Life to Live: The Return Of Love And Cramer Women In The Afternoon

Praise the lord and pass the remote! One Life to Live is officially going back on my DVR list! I just finished watching Monday's episode on SoapNet and well, it's hard to type because I am still caught up in the afterglow. Ron Carlivati is back and One Life is suddenly supercouple central! Liquid hot Jared and Natalie, Antonio and Talia and (gasp!) Cole and Starr were all romantic, endearing and believable.

Is this Daytime 1985? Not that the episode was a total lovefest. The Cramer women returned in full force as both Blair (Kassie DePaiva) and her Auntie Dearest Dorian (Robin Strasser) showed how a TRUE diva tears it  UP in a scene without chewing nary a piece of scenery (Can they teach a class to certain actors and actresses at CBS?). Okay, more on OLTL later, it's time to tape a podcast! But for now, jolly good show!

LOL on the CBS comment. I wonder who could that actress be? HMMM. I LUVVVVVVVVVVVV One Life especially today. It's like a brand new show in a few episodes. It's great. If anybody ever doubts Ron Carlivati the last few episodes should shut that up. I'm slowly becoming an ABC viewer again.

I swear to God, Ron Carlivati is ALLAH! I watched like 20 minutes of Thursday's episode and then turned it off. Friday came around, and I was hooked back in! Monday was even better. You could tell immediately that Ron was writing again because the whole ambiance of the show changed. Welcome back, One Life To Live!!!!!!!!!!

You know, when you all started gushing about One Life I tried to watch it but couldn't get into it. But the strike had already started. This weekend I saw all five episodes from last week and I was glued to the tv. I guess i picked the right week to try again. Say what you want about the decision to make Star pregnant, I have no opinion either way --so much great stuff can be mined from a simple story about a pregnant teenager on the run... But only if they do it right. Done right, we are rooting for those Star-crossed lovers.. And their families don't have to be evil deranged Stefano types either. That Todd Manning, utterly compelling character.

Thanks for the recommendation.

OLTL was so great today and Friday. So happy RC is back. He quickly addressed a lot of the "what the hell?" stuff that the replacement writers had created--namely the Antonio/Talia sl and where the heck Dorian had been while Langston was stuck in the middle of an Edward Albee play. Also he put Nat and Jared together (albeit temporarily) and Jared's explanation and apology to Nat was so well-written that I could actually understand why she quasi-forgave him. Good stuff.

If only One Life could give the class not just to some CBS shows but even its sister shows AMC and GH....One Life is becoming a force and if any show is able to stop the Y&R streak i think its OLTL...Sorry but GH is same old same old, OLTL is trying to become the dominate soap player it deserves to be and i cant wait for it to show ABC that it isnt the black sheep soap on that network after all.

One error in the post - it wasn't John and Talia but Antonio and Talia and yeah, love is back in the afternoon alright. I loved the real talk Cole and Starr had - it was refreshing and also telling that the two teens could have that kind of adult conversation while Todd is still acting like a spoiled brat.

My second fave was Langston comparing Dorian to Todd - wow - that girl has mega guts and so does Markko - only a real friend could withstand that onslaught without giving up the goods - Dorian said he doesn't deserve Langston but the kid proves he's got more heart than she'll probably ever give him credit for. All in all - the teens did their thing today...

I love how Agnes Nixon's name is under the logo in the opening credits, very classy. And how about each episode having a title now...YES! THIS IS A SOAP!!!!!

Stop! I cannot start watching another soap! If you insist on pimping the greatness of OLTL, I will have to start and my time is short as it is. Smile

ABC DAYTIME ROCKS!!!

I just watched yesterdays eposode and WOW!!! Welcome back Ron Carlivati! Loved the outdoor scenes with Antonio/Talia/John! And Blair and Dorian! That's how I remember Kreamer women of OLTL! Even the teens upped the game!! Performer of the Week should go to Langston for the way she stood up to Dorian! She might not be a Kreamer by blood, but sure proved she can stand up to the Queen Kreamer woman herself. Shout outs also going to Markko for the way he handled Dorian and stood by Langston! Even Cole and Star showed that even thou they were still kids, they were also talking about Star's pregnancy as if they were two mature adults.

Welcome back RC! I can hear that "Love In The Afternoon" jingle from the 80's playing ever soo nicely in my ear! And it's Ron Carlivari who's bringing it and OLTL back to greatness!!

Monday's OLTL was the best full episode of any soap I have seen in such a long time. Nothing to fast forward through at all. WAY TO GO, OLTL! (See, we fans can stop bitching and be supportive when it's good!)

I'm SO glad I finally got on board with OLTL. Yesterday was great, and it's only going to get better from here, what with the returns coming up and a lot of storylines finally coming to a head. I really hope that people start recognizing that OLTL is the best soap out there right now. I have to give major props to Robin Strasser and the actress who plays Langston (sorry, forgot her name). Their scenes were AMAZING. See, soaps? Veterans CAN still make for good TV! Can't wait for David, Snoop Dogg, and Rex and Bitchy Bangs's wedding!

The problem is that ATWT and OLTL are on at the same time and it's so hard to pick which to watch live and which to DVR.

Dorian was the BEST thing ever yesterday....LOVED LOVED LOVED her, Langston and Langston's boyfriend.

Dorian was kick ass on Monday. See, this is intelligent soap that doesn't dumb itself down. I second whoever said they loved that talk between Star and Cole. Kids aren't stupid. They can (and will) say naive things like "we can be a family and it'll all work out" but they can and always do have very perceptive things to say like "I think you blame me for getting you pregnant." Seriously, adults often have trouble talking about this stuff.

The wonderful thing about Dorian's diatribe is that is all stuff a parent or elder in her situation says. To me this is fundamental stuff for soaps - the dumbing down of soaps and talking down to its audience.

I swear, I hated that GL story with Daisy where the adults kept expressing DEEP, DEEP disappointment about the abortion but none of them would take it any further than "you didn't tell us." Nobody ever said precisely what the DEEP disappointment was about, because they wouldn't use the word abortion, and they didn't want to describe why they were disappointed, i.e. you had sex! you had sex with him/her! you had unprotected sex! You're a trashy ho! We can't control our children ohmygod what are we gonna do! And all the other stuff Dorian said.

And that damn Rafe, all he ever said was "but we could be a family" it was beyond stupid, but P&G was afraid of the censors. Ah-ha, a theme, P&G afraid of conservative pressure groups...
